Let me share to you how I started to love writing. Ever since grade school, English has always been my favorite subject. I believe my mother influenced me to love it because as far as I can remember (well, based on my mom’s story), even before I started going to school, she made me read books already. She always makes sure that all that I have written are in perfect grammar, she corrects me if I pronounced words incorrectly, and she always sees to it that I can converse well in English.
But in all honesty, I did not love writing right away. We had this daily required journal or diary in grade school. I dreaded it so much that I repeat the same entry every single day: “Dear Diary, I woke up at 5:30 AM today. I took a bath then I wore my clothes. After that, I ate my breakfast and then brush my teeth…..and so on.” Basically a morning routine that I believe my teacher was so sick of reading, she can close her eyes while putting check marks on it. Hahaha, I wonder if she can still remember me.
Anyway, so how did I love writing? It started in high school – the teenage years. You know, the “teenage emotions” which fuel every decision you make in life – the choices that would make you who you are today. I started to keep a personal diary where I jot down entries of how my day went, my secrets, funny things that happened in school, frustrations, basically anything. Unbeknownst to me, my daily diary helped me to practice my writing skills (and improve it) which also made my grades in English pretty high.
The fuel that started the fire. I did not make a big deal out of writing until my 2nd year High School English teacher, Ms. Selfa Aventura, personally called my attention. (I do not know if she knows how grateful I am to her or if she still remembers me.) She did a one on one with me and told me, “I have read your essays in our exams. You are a really good writer. If you want to improve more or to write more, I encourage you to join the school paper.”

I know it’s the 26th of April and I am just starting the challenge for April when it’s almost month-end. Well, they say, it’s better late than never, right? I finally have the time to take a break since a lot is going on due to the current world’s crisis (Covid-19).
I started blogging circa 2007 (Tumblr days) and I have considered it as a place for me to let my feelings out – an online diary. I have tried several platforms – WordPress, Blogger (Blogspot), Tumblr, among others. I find it difficult to maintain a blog especially when I have too much going on at school and work. However, one of the silver lining of the current crisis for me is that I have realized that this is something I have always loved and that I made so much excuses of not pursuing this passion. I knew I have so much time to do this if I just didn’t let my laziness and procrastination get in the way.
So, I thank my friend, Little Misadvencha, for inspiring me to be back at it again.
For Day 01 of Little Misadvencha’s 30-day blog challenge, let’s get into the bits of this blog and why is it named the way it is named.

Summer has ended and I am hit with the reality that I won’t be having the time of my life going to the beach or any getaway soon because it’s June – which means another semester in graduate school is approaching and I’ll be busy again with additional school work (this is my last semester so I am crossing my fingers to get it done and over with!)
Right now, let’s forget about past and future things for a while and see what I am currently being busy with. Thus, my first Sunday Currently entry in this blog. I have been doing these Sunday Currently entries in my former blog. And while I keep myself committed to this one, I will try my (very) best to consistently do it.
To give you an idea on what “Sunday Currently” is about, well, I actually discovered this from Maine Mendoza’s blog (yep, I am a fan, so to the haters, shooooo away!) and found out that it is a trend set by Siddathornton. So, let’s start!
reading The Unexpected Everything by Morgan Matson. What made me read this book was actually the cover page. I once went to a bookstore in a nearby mall and I was so attracted with the cover because of the dogs! But I got no extra money to buy it at that time, so I decided to download an e-book. To see how the cover looks like and read reviews about the book, visit Goodreads.

Lately, I have been reading and following some articles online that inspired me to become a better version of myself — in all aspects of my life. I realized how important it is to notice my own self and actually do something worthwhile to “improve myself for myself.”
So you see, I am not really an expert on anything and I am not really good at giving advice or tips about everything. As a disclaimer, everything I am going to share to you is solely based on my own experiences.
While evaluating myself, I discovered that I have five important aspects in life to improve (in case we are on the same stand, I hope these help!):
I am very blessed to have grown up in a family where Jesus Christ has always been the center of everything. My parents have always demonstrated this love for God and His word and how important they are in everything that I do in life and that involves my choices and decisions. I am so grateful to be saved by Jesus Christ, my Lord and Personal Saviour, for saving a sinner like me from my sins, for giving up His life on the cross, and for giving me the promise of eternal life. My salvation is very important to me and as much as I can, I want to spread this gospel to others so they can experience God in their lives. I know in my little ways, giving the most available time I have in sharing the gospel is something big for God’s glory. I believe I must improve on this – winning souls. And aside from that, I need to be diligent in attending church activities, my bible reading and devotionals, as well as my prayer life. I firmly believe that I can do and achieve these because God has promised us that with Him, all things are possible (Matthew 19:26).
Health and Lifestyle
For the record, I am not a health buff nor a fashionista nor a beauty conscious individual. I often reject the idea of being too conscious of how I look like and how other people see me on the outside because I personally believe that what always matters is what is in the inside. However, I changed that perspective because it is equally important to pay (at least) some attention to how you look outside as a reflection of what’s inside – unless you want to look like you haven’t taken care of yourself for the past 23 years.
I am not the typical “hey, she has a great body” type of person and I am definitely not a girl who makes guys turn their heads twice because I possess a beauty of an angel or a porcelain doll. I don’t like make up until I realized how I need to at least put something on my face so I won’t look like a zombie. Moreover, my body type (I don’t call it fat) is on the chubby side. I am fluffy – that’s how I always describe myself. It didn’t really matter to me if I am thin or chubby. But lately, I realized that I must now focus on my health especially in my food intake and the need to exercise. I am not getting any younger!

Hi guys! I don’t know how you’ve come across this space in the web which I guess doesn’t make up even a single byte of it (because I normally don’t post anything about it on Facebook) but, hello, hello!
If anyone of you already knew I had previously owned a WordPress blog and a Tumblr, I hope it is not a surprise for you to spot this new one. I always have it in me – trying to find contentment in all things and when I cannot find it in one thing, I venture to another one. Got me? There really was nothing wrong with my Tumblr, I just felt the need to change some things a bit. And blogging or sharing some of my personal thoughts or even some of my random writings would be of little recognition if it stays there.
Aside from that, I created this new blog to acknowledge that I have finally decided to get out of my comfort zone. I needed a fresh start – to expose myself to new adventures, new chapters, and new experiences in life. And it would be a great privilege to have them shared to you (may you be interested or not).
This blog is going to have more personal touches but definitely, I would still share some good stuff that would help you in case you needed something that can inspire you physically, emotionally, and spiritually.
It isn’t the new year yet but every day is a great day to start anew. And today, August 7, 2016, I am, by God’s divine grace, entering a new phase of my life and I hope you join me in this journey!
